(Gift for you below!👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽)
I have to admit, I hadn’t even heard of “The Little Prince” before I moved to Germany in 2012. The 1943 novella “Le Petit Prince” by Frenchman Antoine de Saint-Exupéry had passed me by in my formative school years (nothing against the Australian school system of course, there is only so much you can share in those years!) but a great friend here in Germany swiftly amended this oversight in my first few months upon arrival.
I was enjoying some rubbish on Netflix last weekend (as I am wont to do!) and this quote from the book came up in a conversation between our 2 protagonists: “A Goal Without A Plan Is Just A Wish”, and it just aligned perfectly with a conversation I had had with a client just last Friday – how to find your purpose and passion in your life and career…
It can sometimes seem so easy to know what you DON’T want in your career – no more long days, no more ridiculous deadlines, no more large corporates / small start-ups… whatever it may be for you. But it can be SO DARN DIFFICULT to work out what it is you DO want, and actually turn that into your ideal career, or even ideal life.
I know how this feels – when I was in finance I knew what wasn’t working for me, but it took an absolute earthquake for me to find my true calling as a coach! Something I had actually never considered before in my life (yes, believe it!).
So how can we find our true calling, the career that aligns with all our strengths, our vision, our values, and the lifestyle we desire?
Well, my friend, here’s a first step.
As I write this it’s December 2022, time for some new year’s resolutions! But soon, as the fireworks fizzle out, and Auld Lang Syne quivers drunkenly to an end, what visions of a new life will you share?
How about something that sets you up for success… but for real this time?
Something that gives you goosebumps, and that you just KNOW is meant for you? And is aligned with the person you wish to become…
But who is that person?
Yes, that’s the 50 thousand dollar question! You might have some vague ideas and notions, but actually writing them down is the first true step to gaining clarity. Writing releases your subconscious, the stuff that you don’t readily talk about to your friends and loved ones, the stuff that you may not have even admitted to yourself.
So as we start the week into Christmas and the holiday season, here is my gift to you:
AND… as an extra little treat to prime your brain to be on the look out for your desires (that’s neuroscience, my friend!):
Both of these will start to fire your imagination, your intuition, your emotions, and start to allow you to see a new way forward.
Perhaps you’re already deliriously happy where you are in your life! That’s awesome, good for you. But if you are wanting to make any changes, any changes at all, and are not sure where to even start, I’ve got you.
